Frank Marino was asked about the Beatles Sgt. Pepper album in a Canadian paper.
Thanx to Ray Bowen for the article.
===================================
Occupation: bona fide guitar legend.
Born: 12years BP (before Pepper).
Discovery: when he was 12,as soon as it came out. It was his older brother Norm's copy.
First bought it: when the CD version was released in 1987.
Favourite track: Getting Better. "If I'm driving my car and I'm humming Beatle tunes, tapping on my steering wheel, that's probably the one I do the most - not to mention that I play it in sound checks".
Place in his pop pantheon: "None of its songs are in my Top 5 tunes of all time, but as an album - as a package - it's greater than the sum of its parts. It's absolutely No. 1. Even anything else the Beatles did is not even close".
Assessment: "What we have to take away from the Beatles is the honesty, the youthful innocence about what they're doing. And that's what creates what the Beatles are - as opposed to other bands selling their music based on how technically good they are".
Special kudos: "George Martin's production work".
